Activities

  • A national webinar on ‘Algebraic Structures and its application in Secure Communications’ was organized on 05.09.2020. The invited speaker was Dr. Sucheta Chakraborty, Scientist G, DRDO. A Teachers’ Day celebration organized by the students of the department preceded the lecture.
  • An international webinar series on ‘Biomathematical modelling of epidemics: Focus on Covid 19’ was organized on 25.06.2020 and 26.06.2020. The invited speakers were Prof. Malay Banerjee; Department of Statistics and Mathematics; IIT Kanpur and Sri Ayan Chatterjee; University of Agder; Norway. Several Students of the department also presented their papers in the series.
  • A national level workshop on ‘Cryptology’ was organized in 2016 in association with R. C. Bose Center for Cryptology, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
  • A one-week Teachers’ Training Workshop in ‘Mathematics and Statistics’ was organized in 2016 in collaboration with National Centre for Mathematics.
  • A national level seminar was organized on ‘Knowledge Based Systems’ in 2004 in association with Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
  • The department organizes students’ seminar every year. All students are encouraged to prepare a talk on a topic of their choice. The students are encouraged to use PowerPoint/Beamer for their presentations.
  • Several eminent mathematicians have been invited by the department to deliver special lectures to the students. These include, in recent years, Prof. S. K. Mapa (Presidency College), Prof. S.C. Bagchi (Indian Statistical Institute), Prof. Mihir Chakraborti (University of Calcutta), Prof. Amartya Dutta (Indian Statistical Institute), Prof. Dulal Chandra Sanyal (University of Kalyani), Dr. Saurav Sengupta (Indian Statistical Institute), Prof. S. M. Srivastava (Cultivation of Sciences), Prof. Dilip Kumar Ganguli (University of Calcutta) and Prof. U. C. De (University of Kalyani)
